A Brief History of the College

Kamargaon College, established in 1972, is situated at Kamargaon under Bokakhat Sub-Division of Golaghat District of Assam at a distance of 400 mtrs. towards north from NH 37. It is  a distinct institute of higher learning of Kamargaon which covers an area of 35 villages having around 75,000 population.  Kamargaon College had been a great need of the people of the  locality since years back for imparting higher education to the young aspirants who cannot go outside for education owing to   their poor economic background. In 1971 some enlightened  persons came forward to establish a college at Kamargaon considering the need of the community. People of the locality joined hands with them and Kamargaon College came into existence in July, 1972. Since then, the College has been serving for the noble cause of re-shaping and transforming this socio economically  dis-advantaged society through quality education. The College endeavours to promote in the students and teachers an awareness and understanding of the social needs of the locality and prepare
them for fulfilling such needs.

Kamargaon College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and  included in the list of the institution under section 2 (f) and 12 (b) of the UGC Act. and accredited for the first time by NAAC in 2004 with C++ and re-accredited in 2011 with ‘B’ grade & with ‘B+ ‘ grade in 2019.
